Bethesda man, 24, killed in Saturday hit-and-run

Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run collision in Rockville early Saturday.

Alonso Rodriguez, 24, of Bethesda, was found on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road shortly before 3:30 a.m.

Police said a passing motorist found Rodriguez’s body and tried to administer aid. Rodriguez was dead by the time emergency crews arrived.

According to police, Rodriguez had been out with two friends Friday night into Saturday morning.

Around 2:20 a.m., the car Rodriguez was riding in stopped on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road, and Rodriguez got out.

His friends, a male driver and female passenger, continued east on Norbeck Road.

Rodriguez was hit and killed by a passing vehicle some time in the next hour, 2:20 and 3:25 a.m.

The hit-and-run remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone who traveled along Norbeck Road between Bel Pre Road and Muncaster Mill Road between 2:20 a.m. and 3:25 a.m. Saturday to call them at 301-840-2435, in hopes that they could provide information about the collision.
