Bicyclist struck by car, seriously injured in Northwest D.C.

D.C. police are investigating a car accident that left a bicyclist seriously injured.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Wisconsin and Western avenues in Northwest Washington.

Police said the bicyclist was conscious and breathing following the crash, but was transported to an area hospital in serious condition. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.

Neither the bicyclist nor the driver have been identified.

The southbound lanes of Wisonsin Avenue were closed to traffic as police investigated the incident. Stay with Dr. Gridlock for the latest traffic updates.
