Body found in Hyattsville area creek

A man’s body was found in a creek in the Hyattsville area of Prince George’s County Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

A bicyclist riding near the creek in the 3200 block of Queens Chapel Road found the body at about 3:40 p.m., said Capt. Stanley Johnson, a spokesman for the Maryland National-Capital Park Police. He said the body appeared to be that of a black man in his 20s, and it had no trauma that was easily noticeable.

Johnson said the body was in very shallow water, clearly visible in the creek that is near the West Hyattsville Metro station. He said the case was being treated as a death investigation, and detectives were working to determine the man’s identity and what caused his death.
