Body found in the Potomac

An adult female body was pulled from the Potomac River in the area of Belmont Bay on Wednesday, authorities said.

Prince William and Fairfax County police dive teams, with the assistance of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, pulled the body from the water.

Officer Mark Merriman, a Prince William police spokesman, said there is nothing yet that would indicate foul play and an investigation is proceeding.

Pending an autopsy and notification of family, Prince William County police are not releasing further information.
