Body pulled from Potomac River

Montgomery County police and fire crews pulled a body from the Potomac River near Edwards Ferry in Poolesville Saturday morning, and investigators are working to determine who it is and how it got there, authorities said.

A boater spotted the body about 8 a.m. and called emergency responders, authorities said. It was not clear immediately what the person’s gender was, authorities said.

Montgomery County law enforcement officials said they would send the body to the medical examiner’s office to be identified, and they would work with neighboring jurisdictions to see if it matches the descriptions of any missing persons.
