Police in Prince George’s County are searching for someone they say is burglarizing newly constructed homes across the area, making off in the darkness with items as large as refrigerators and dishwashers.

In a blog post Tuesday, police said what appears to be a 1998 Chevy Tahoe or Suburban has been linked at least 25 such burglaries since December. The most recent cases, they said, occurred Monday in the 1700 block of Fernwood Drive in Capitol Heights, though the vehicle has also been connected to burglaries in Upper Marlboro and Bowie.

Police said the burglar or burglars typically strike at night, between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., and they have taken an estimated $400,000 worth of refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers and other new appliances. They said security cameras have caught the Tahoe or Suburban linked to each case, and it appears to have the Maryland license plate 7AY0000.

Anyone who has seen the vehicle or has information about the burglaries is asked to call the department’s Regional Investigative Division Central Region at 301-390-2160.
