Car strikes two people in Prince George’s, driver flees: police

Two pedestrians were hit by a car that fled the scene of the crash Friday morning in Oxon Hill, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. in the 6300 block of Oxon Hill Road, authorities said. Cpl. Larry Johnson, a Prince George’s County Police spokesman, said the 55-year-old man and 62-year-old woman were standing in the center turn lane when they were struck by a gray compact car. The car, he said, fled the scene.

As of Friday evening, both the man and the woman remained in critical condition, Johnson said. He said it remains unclear why they were in the turn lane, and police were still searching for the gray compact car and its driver.
