Child, 4, struck by vehicle in Montgomery County

A 4-year-old was struck by a vehicle in the Germantown area of Montgomery County and was flown to a hospital, police said.

The incident occurred about 5:10 p.m. on Summer Oak Drive, Montgomery County police said. Police said that officers were initially called for a pedestrian who had been struck and soon learned that the victim was a 4-year-old.

Police said the child was flown to a hospital, but they did not immediately know the severity of the injuries. They said police were probing the circumstances of the incident.
