Child injured in fall in Rockville

A young girl was critically injured Wednesday afternoon in Rockville after she fell from a window and onto a deck 10 feet below, authorities said.

Capt. Oscar Garcia, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, said the girl, who is about two years old, fell about one story from the window and was unconscious when emergency responders arrived. He said she was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries considered to be life threatening.

Garcia said the incident occurred about 3:20 p.m. in the 1000-block of Grand Oak Way in Rockville.
