Child injured seriously by SUV in Loudoun County driveway

A 13-month-old girl was seriously injured Wednesday when an SUV backed over her in the driveway of her Hamilton home, Loudoun County Sheriff’s officials said.

The toddler’s mother and a friend were talking outside of the home in the 1700 block of Twinoaks Place about 2:30 p.m., but neither adult realized the girl was outside, said Liz Mills, a Sheriff’s department spokeswoman. The family friend struck the child in the driveway in the SUV.

Authorities flew the child to Inova Fairfax hospital, Mills said.
