Officer, child injured in crash on I-66 in Fairfax County

This post has been updated.

A driver has been charged with DUI after rear-ending a police cruiser Monday night, a crash that injured an officer and two young children, Fairfax County police said.

Authorities said 26-year-old Dianna Holloway was driving on eastbound I-66 near Monument Drive shortly after 10 p.m. when she struck the police cruiser from behind.

Police initially reported that a 6-year-old boy who was inside the striking vehicle was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, but police said his condition has improved, and his injuries are no longer life-threatening.

A second child, a 1-year-old boy, who also was riding in the striking vehicle, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The officer, who was inside the cruiser after completing an unrelated traffic stop, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Holloway has been charged with DUI.
