Clifton man injured in two-vehicle crash

Fairfax County police on Friday said they had mistakenly issued a press release indicating that a man involved in a crash in Braddock had died. They said the man, Charles R. Blevins, 64, was in critical condition.

The accident occurred around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday when a 27-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Impala went down Mattie Moore Court and attempted to make a left turn onto Shirley Gate Road, police said. She collided with a GMC Sierra pickup truck, which was pushed off the roadway and hit a street light.

Blevins, 64, of Clifton, the driver of the truck, was taken to a nearby hospital, police said. The woman, whose name was not released by police, was not injured in the collision.

Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be contributing factors to the crash, police said, and an investigation is ongoing. Police do not know if charges will be filed.

Police apologized for the error.
