Conviction for Md. man in attempted deputy shooting

WESTMINSTER, Md. — A jury has convicted a Baltimore man of attempted murder for trying to shoot a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputy in Westminster last year.

Twenty-year-old Brian Hill was also convicted this week for assault and other charges. He will be sentenced in September.

Hill was accused of trying to shoot Dfc. Brant Webb on June 14, 2010 after Webb pulled over Hill’s SUV.

Police say as the deputy approached the vehicle, Hill stuck a handgun out of the window and tried to fire a shot at the deputy, but the gun misfired.
