ROANOKE, Va. — A former Franklin County deputy is heading back to court to enter a plea on more shooting-related charges.

Jonathan Agee is charged in Montgomery County with shooting a Virginia State Police sergeant in the leg.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Mary Pettitt tells The Roanoke Times that Agee is scheduled to plead no contest on Tuesday to attempted capital murder, aggravated malicious wounding and related charges.

Earlier this month, the 33-year-old Agee pleaded no contest in Roanoke Circuit Court to first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his ex-wife, Jennifer Agee. The shooting occurred on Memorial Day 2011 in the parking lot of a convenience store in Roanoke.

Former state police Sgt. Matthew Brannock was wounded during a chase on Interstate 81 shortly after the Roanoke shooting occurred.
