Davis charged in second assault

The 19-year-old District man arrested in connection with an assault on a woman who was attacked Thursday night in the Petworth neighborhood has been charged in a second assault.

Michael Davis, who was charged with aggravated assault in the attack on the 19-year-old woman who was struck with a claw hammer Thursday night, is facing a second charge of assault with intent to kill for another attack the same day.

A D.C. Superior Court judge ordered Saturday that he remain in jail, where he has been held since Thursday evening’s attack.

Police said Davis is under investigation in other assaults, which occurred Tuesday and Wednesday.

Two of the victims in those cases survived with severe head injuries. The other, a 66-year-old Denver man, was found dead in an alley about a block from the rowhouse where Davis lives in the 900 block of Emerson Street NW.
