D.C. man gets 14 years for sexually assaulting his daughter

A 37-year-old District man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexually abusing his 14-year-old daughter, officials announced Monday.

The man pleaded guilty in June to one count of first-degree sexual abuse of a child with aggravating circumstances.

The man’s name is not being released to protect the privacy of his daughter.

According to U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr., the man assaulted his daughter in December while she was spending a weekend at his home in Southeast Washington.

The man pleaded guilty to telling his daughter that he wanted to wrestle with her, then took her to a bedroom where he fondled her and engaged in a sexual act with her.

As a result, the teenager contracted a sexually transmitted disease, according to Machen.

After completing the 14-year sentence, the man will be placed on 10 years of supervised release.

He was also ordered to undergo sex-offender treatment and supervision, and he must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
