D.C. police charge Sean Hawkins in man’s August shooting death

A Waldorf man has been charged with murder in the August death of a man who was shot dead and found in a burning car in Landover, police said.

Sean Donnelle Hawkins, 37, was arrested Thursday and charged second-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old Antwain Henderson of Capitol Heights, police said.

Henderson’s body was found in a burning car at about 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 31, according to police.

An investigation started by Prince George’s County detectives and concluded by D.C. police determined that Henderson was shot dead at the 5800 block of Field Place NE around 1:40 a.m. that same day.

Police reported that Henderson’s body was badly burned and the car — abandoned in Fairmount Heights — was so damaged that it was impossible to tell what type of vehicle it was beyond a “standard” sedan-type.
