D.C. Superior Court was on brief lockdown Friday morning as courthouse security officers and marshals scrambled to look for a man they believed brought in an envelope full of white powder and gave it to a clerk in the civil division.
Officers reviewed security cameras looking for a 6-foot, white male wearing a white straw hat and a black suit. Officers believed the unidentified male was still in the building.
The man was found, and the courthouse has re-opened.
Update: Court spokeswoman Leah Gurowitz said in a statement: “The Moultrie Courthouse was put on lockdown for ten to fifteen minutes as the result of a suspicious package being left in a court office. Security personnel gave the ‘all clear’ at approximately 10:20 a.m. and the courthouse is now open.”
