Del Ray jogger grabbed in Alexandria

A female jogger was grabbed from behind and touched inappropriately before being shoved to the ground at about 6 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Del Ray Avenue, Alexandria police said.

Police said the woman screamed and the suspect fled towards Mount Vernon Avenue.

Authorities are seeking witnesses. The victim was able to describe what the suspect was wearing: a black puffy, thigh-length coat, a black skull cap and dark pants, police said.

Witnesses may remain anonymous but are asked to call Det. Kevin Thomas at 703-746-6273 or the Criminal Investigations Section at 703-746-6711.
