District man sentenced for sexually assaulting teen girl

A District man was sentenced Tuesday to more than three years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

Chris Seville Thomas, 20, of the District pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted first-degree child sexual abuse in September.

Thomas admitted that on Nov. 6, 2010, he met the victim while walking down the street in Northeast Washington, police said.

He asked whether she would braid his hair and the girl agreed, authorities said. He took her to his home and they had sex.

Thomas initially denied having had any physical contact with the girl, but his DNA matched samples taken from the girl’s body after the assault.

Thomas was sentenced to 39 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years.
