Driver dies in McLean crash

A driver was killed in a single vehicle crash in McLean Tuesday afternoon, Fairfax County police said.

The crash occurred shortly before 12:20 p.m. on Lewinsville Road near the intersection of Swinks Mill Road, Fairfax County police said.

Police are still investigating the cause, but they said witnesses observed the driver lose control of the Toyota Sienna as it was heading eastbound on Lewinsville Road. The minivan struck a tree and rolled back onto the roadway, where it caught fire, police said.

An adult female was found dead inside the vehicle. Police are awaiting a medical examiner’s report before releasing her identity.
