Driver faces hit-and-run charge in Va. bicyclist’s death

RICHMOND, Va. — A motorist faces a hit-and-run charge in the death of a Richmond bicyclist.

Media outlets report a grand jury in Richmond indicted 30-year-old Elias Steven Webb on the felony charge Monday.

Police say Webb was driving an SUV that struck 24-year-old Lanie Kruszewski on July 29. Webb told police he thought he had struck a deer.

Webb faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

His attorney, Keith Marcus, said in a motion seeking a bond hearing that his client has no criminal record, is a lifelong resident of Richmond and Henrico County and is cooperating with authorities.
