Driver to be sentenced in fatal Va. bus crash

The man convicted of killing four people when the bus he was driving crashed outside Richmond, Va. is expected to be sentenced today.

Kin Yiu Cheung was convicted of four counts of involuntary manslaughter following the May, 2011 crash. He faces 40 years in prison, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities said the discount interstate bus, traveling from North Carolina to New York, hit an embankment and overturned about 30 miles north of Richmond.

Court records say Cheung fell asleep behind the wheel.

Cheung’s sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday at Caroline County Circuit Court.
