Eight local students were arrested this morning after security guards caught them on the roof of Wakefield High School in Arlington, police said.

The students, whose identities have not been released, were taken into custody shortly after 5 a.m.

It is unclear why the students were on the the roof or how they got up there. Police are currently searching the inside of the school.

The incident will not impact regular classes since the school, located at 4901 South Chesterfield Road, is closed for summer break.
