Fairfax day-care provider sentenced to 17 years

A Fairfax County day-care provider was sentenced to 17 years in prison Friday for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl at a day-care center in Centreville last year.

Siyamand Salezadeh, 23, worked at the Minnieland Private Day School on Compton Village Drive, police said. In September, Fairfax police were alerted to the allegations that he had molested the girl and quickly obtained a warrant for Salezadeh. But he fled the area, and was captured trying to enter Canada when authorities at a New York State border crossing checked him and found the Fairfax warrant.

Salezadeh pleaded guilty in December to one county of sodomy against a victim under the age of 13. Virginia sentencing guidelines called for a prison term of six years, but Fairfax Circuit Court Judge Randy I. Bellows felt that was too lenient. He imposed a sentence of 30 years on Salezadeh, and suspended 13 years.
