Fairfax police investigate shooting

Fairfax County police are on the scene of a shooting at a strip mall in the Belle View area, according to authorities and a witness.

Police were called to the scene in the 1600 block of Belle View Boulevard at 2:17 p.m., authorities said. A police spokeswoman said at about 2:30 p.m. that officers were still arriving to the scene and trying to determine what happened.

Fitz Godwin, who works at a shipping store in the area, said the shooting appeared to have occurred inside a barbershop. He said he heard screaming and came out of his store to find a group of woman talking hysterically on cordless phones and pointing inside the shop. He said he looked inside to see a man laying on the floor, his shirt soaked in blood.

“He didn’t look good at all to me,” Godwin said. “I’m pretty freaked out to be honest with you.”

Godwin said police were roping off the entire strip mall with crime tape. More details will be provided as they become available.
