Federal courthouse security hearing in Md.

Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin is bringing a committee field hearing on safety and security at the nation’s federal courthouses to Baltimore.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing is set for Thursday afternoon at the Garmatz Federal Courthouse in Baltimore.

Infrastructure and security at the courthouse, which opened in 1976, have been criticized over the years.

Witnesses at the hearing include Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, federal Judge Frederick Motz and representatives of the General Services Administration and the administrative offices of the U.S. Courts.
