Fines for 3 Occupy Richmond protesters after arrests

RICHMOND, Va. — Three Occupy Richmond members have been ordered to pay fines following their convictions on trespassing charges.

Twenty-two-year-old Joshua Kadrich, 63-year-old John Schintzius and 26-year-old Christopher Gillus were among nine people arrested in October when police cleared out protesters from an encampment on a downtown plaza.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the Richmond residents were found guilty Tuesday of trespassing on city property and being in the park after hours.

Richmond General District Court Judge Phillip L. Hairston sentenced the men to 90 days in jail but suspended the terms. Hairston also ordered each defendant to pay $525 in fines but suspended $450 of the total.
