An unidentified male at the White House was taken to a hospital after suffering a hand injury Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The male was injured shortly before 11 a.m., authorities said. D.C. Fire/EMS spokesman Lon Walls said that shortly after the incident, the male patient, whose age was not released, was taken to a hospital and faced losing one or two fingers.

However, a White House official said the injury was minor and an ambulance was called out of an abundance of caution.

It is unclear how the male was injured.
