Fire at Mount Vernon area home

Fairfax County fire officials said pipe tobacco discarded in a combustable container started a Thursday evening fire at a Mount Vernon area home.

One fire engine was called to the 2600 block of Childs Lane in the Mount Vernon area around 11:20 p.m. when the back porch of a rambler style house caught fire, Fairfax authorities said. The fire was contained to the back porch of the home. No one was injured.
