Firefighters investigate blaze that destroyed Montgomery County home

A fire ripped through a home in Potomac Wednesday evening, burning through three levels of the single-family home, Montgomery County fire officials said. No one was injured.

The fire broke out at the 4000-square-foot house in the 10600 block of Vantage Court about 7 p.m. Residents called for help about 20 minutes later, fire officials said.

By the time emergency crews arrived, the house was engulfed in flames. Firefighters initially were unable to enter the home due to the intensity of the fire.

Officials said that two women were home when the fire began, but both escaped safely.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation Thursday morning, officials said.
