George Washington University student attacked in Northwest

Update: Friday evening, police reported a sexual assault and robbery near the intersection of Sixth Street and Constitution Avenue NW. They said it was the same incident as the one reported below.

Original item: Police are investigating the robbery and sexual assault of a male George Washington University student Thursday night.

The attack took place in the 1200 block of 18th Street NW as the student walked from a bar back to campus.

According to police, a man confronted the student with a knife, robbed him and sexually assaulted him.

Police described the suspect as a black man with dreadlocks who was wearing red shorts at the time of the attack.

The investigation is ongoing.
