Girl sexually assaulted inside D.C. recreation center

District police are investigating the sexual assault of a girl inside the Fort Davis Recreation Center in Southeast Washington, according to authorities.

Police confirmed the attack occurred Wednesday about 7:50 p.m. inside the building in the 1400 block of 41st St., SE, near Alabama and Massachusetts avenues and across from Fort Dupont Park.

Authorities released no other information and would only describe the victim as a juvenile female.

A man who answered the phone at the recreation center referred questions to a spokesman at the Department of Recreation and Parks. A spokeswoman for that office declined comment Friday.
