Girl sexually assaulted walking home from school

A 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the Temple Hills area as she was walking home from school Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The girl, who lived in the Temple Hills area, was walking alone in the 3100 block of Scottish Drive when a boy who appeared to be between 14 and 16-years-old grabbed her and forced her into a nearby wooded area, police said. The boy sexually assaulted the 10-year-old until he was scared away by people who heard the girl’s cries for help and went into the woods, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 4:50 p.m., police said. They said the boy was about 5’5 to 5’6 inches tall and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans and red and white shoes. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department’s District IV Investigative Section at 301-749-5064.
