Police: Man dead at fire scene shot self

A man found dead at the scene of a house fire in the Temple Hills area of Prince George’s County Wednesday afternoon set the home ablaze and shot himself after a dispute with his wife, according to authorities and law enforcement sources.

The man, who police have not yet identified, was found dead at the fire scene in the 5300 block of Lorraine Drive, authorities said. Police said investigators believe he shot himself after a domestic dispute. Law enforcement sources said that dispute was with his wife, and it prompted him to light the home on fire.

About 40 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze — which at one point extended into the roof — for about 30 minutes, fire authorities said. They said investigators are still probing the exact cause of the fire, but it has been deemed “suspicious” and seemed to have multiple points of origin.
