Hit and run truck injures woman in Silver Spring

A woman suffered head injuries Wednesday night when she was struck by a pick-up truck that then left the scene, Montgomery County authorities said.

Police think the woman was struck at about 8:30 p.m. as she tried to cross University Boulevard East at East Wayne Avenue, in the Silver Spring area.

The truck, which was described as black, had been heading west on University Boulevard when the driver struck the woman, who apparently was not in a crosswalk. The driver was still at large late Wednesday night.

The woman was taken to a hospital. Her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
