Howard Co. barber charged with sex abuse

An Ellicott City barber has been accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy who was one of his customers, Howard County police said.

Jung Gon Kim, 54, of Bear Creek Drive in Boyds, was charged with sexual abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense, sodomy and second-degree assault, police said.

Police said the boy, who came forward in October to report the alleged abuse, had been a client at Scissors Sounds hair Salon in Ellicott City, where Kim worked.

The boy told officers that Kim made inappropriate sexual comments toward him on several occasions, police said. The boy said that in September he was sexually abused by Kim, police said.

Kim was arrested and police on Thursday said he was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
