Judge: Md. man can stand trial in wife’s killing

ELKTON, Md. — A judge has ruled that a man charged with fatally stabbing his wife is competent to stand trial.

Cecil County Circuit Court Administrative Judge V. Michael Whelan also ruled Monday that 41-year-old James Claude Winters can be held criminally responsible if found guilty.

The Cecil Whig reports that Winters is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death Easter Sunday of his wife, 39-year-old Marchal Elizabeth Adams.
