Juvenile arrested in fatal D.C. shooting

A juvenile has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the District’s final homicide of 2012, which occurred Dec. 30 in Southeast Washington and claimed the life of a 23-year-old man, according to D.C. police.

Authorities did not release any information on the suspect, whose name is not made public because he is a juvenile, or on a motive for the crime. The victim was Angelo Alphonso Payne of Southeast.

Police said Payne was shot about 12:08 a.m. in the 3400 block of Cruffut Place SE, off Minnesota Avenue. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. He was the 88th homicide victim of last year, the fewest recorded in the District in the last half-century.
