Leesburg police investigate suspicious death

Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found inside an apartment in Leesburg overnight, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

The woman was in her early 20s. She was found in an apartment at The Fields of Leesburg on Edwards Ferry Road NE shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday, authorities said. Police declined to identify the woman pending the results of a final report by the medical examiner.

Police said they were first alerted by concerned relatives of the victim who had not been able to make contact with the woman for several days. Her body was found soon after the call, when officers visited the address provided by the victim’s relatives, authorities said.

Authorities said Friday that it was believed to be an isolated incident and did not pose a threat to the public.

Update: Leesburg police on Monday identified the victim as Izamar Carmona-Pacheco, 20, a Mexican national.
