Man, 40, arrested in deadly Friday D.C. stabbing

A 40-year-old Northwest Washington man has been charged with murder in a Friday stabbing, police said.

Police responding to the 1200 block of North Capitol Street NW about 9:30 p.m. found a man suffering from stab wounds. They took John W. Griffin, 42, of Southeast Washington, to a hospital, where he died.

On Monday, police arrested Herbert Hancock Hayes, also known as Herbert Grayson Hayes, and charged him with second-degree armed murder in Griffin’s death.
