Man accused of shooting four, one fatally, in Va.

DINWIDDIE, Va. — A Petersburg man accused of killing one person and wounding three others is in custody.

U.S. marshals arrested 25-year-old Jaeon Rondell Chavis without incident Tuesday afternoon.

The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office says Chavis is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding, and more than a dozen weapons violations.

Chavis is accused of fatally shooting 24-year-old Jamell Everett Snowden of Petersburg and wounding three other men. The shootings occurred early Sunday morning at an outside gathering in the West Petersburg community.

Chavis is being held without bond at the Meherrin River Regional Jail in Alberta. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Dinwiddie County General District Court.
