A Shenandoah County man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in Fairfax City in August, police said.

Malik Tayvon Battle, 22, of Strasburg, Va., was apprehended on Sept. 28 in the District, Fairfax City police said.

Investigators determined Battle was allegedly behind the wheel when a car plowed into James Ralph Davidson, of no fixed address, on Fairfax Boulevard on Aug. 18, police said.

Davidson was crossing the road around 1:15 a.m. when he was struck in the eastbound lanes, police said. The driver failed to stop and Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The vehicle was located a short time later by Arlington police.
