A second suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of a teenager in Northeast Washington last summer.

Delrico Shuford, 20, of the District, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the slaying of 17-year-old Tyrell Fogle.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 29, 2011. District police on assignment in the 1900 block of Bennett Place NE heard the sound of gunfire and saw Fogle being chased and shot at by a masked suspect with a gun.

Police said Fogle was shot multiple times and collapsed.

The officers chased a suspect, 18-year-old Anthony Hatton, the 700 block of 21st Street NE, and arrested him. Meanwhile, Fogle was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hatton was charged with felony first degree murder.

U.S. Marshals arrested Shuford on Wednesday in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with first-degree murder while armed and conspiracy.

Police did not give information about Shuford’s alleged role in the slaying. They have not released a motive for the shooting.
