A man was robbed and assaulted on Capitol Hill early Tuesday, in an attack that occurred about four blocks from the Eastern Market area where a man was found severely beaten and robbed last month.

Police said that both incidents were under investigation, but that as of late Tuesday nothing suggested any connection between them.

Tuesday’s incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. in the 300 block of North Carolina Avenue SE. In last month’s incident, Thomas C. Maslin, was found unconscious Aug. 18 in the 700 block of the avenue. Police said he had been robbed, apparently shortly after midnight..

In Tuesday’s incident, the victim was robbed at gunpoint and suffered injuries that, according to a police spokesman, appeared to be minor.
