CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Charlottesville police say a Gordonsville man has been charged with attempted capital murder after he allegedly hit a police officer with his pickup truck.

The Daily Progress reports 44-year-old Harold Tazewell Morris Jr. also is charged with hit and run, eluding police, felonious assault and drunken driving.

Charlottesville Capt. Gary Pleasants says Morris allegedly struck the back of a woman’s vehicle twice at an intersection Monday, then struck an Albermarle County police officer. Morris also drove into a pole before two officers pulled him out.
