It is not often burglars flee wearing motorcycle helmets, but it happened in Landsdowne on Wednesday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

A man walking his dog in the 43700 block of Riverpointe Drive around 11:50 p.m. noticed a person wearing a motorcycle helmet in his neighbor’s garage, the sheriff’s office said. The man confronted the suspect, who fled on foot.

The man then chased the suspect, who turned around and brandished a firearm, according to the sheriff. The suspect ran to a black pick-up truck driven by an unknown man.

Officers discovered the motorcycle helmet, a leaf blower and a weed wacker were taken from the garage.
