Man fatally shot by acquaintance, police say

A man was fatally shot in the Landover area of Prince George’s County Thursday, and police are seeking an acquaintance of his who they believe was responsible for the slaying, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of Bender Road, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a Prince George’s County police spokesman. Authorities said 43-year-old Brian Keith Tann, of Landover, and an acquaintance of his got into a dispute, and the acquaintance fatally shot Tann.

Johnson said police had obtained a warrant charging the acquaintance with first-degree murder. He declined to release the acquaintance’s name because officers had yet to serve that warrant.

It remains unclear what the dispute was about, Johnson said.
