Man fatally shot in Northeast D.C.

A 21-year-old man died after being shot in the face early Monday in the Edgewood neighborhood of Northeast D.C.

Police said there was no one in the vicinity except the victim, identified as Silvestre Antonio Perez-Agustine, of Northwest, when they arrived to investigate a report of gunshots about 2:20 a.m.

Detectives closed down the 500 block of Edgewood Street NE until later in the morning, so they would have a chance to search for evidence once the sun came up.

The shooting victim, whose identity was not released but who was described as an adult by police, was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 3 a.m.

Police said they had no suspects and no motive in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIME (1-888-919-2746). Text messages can also be submitted anonymously to 50411.
