Man found shot to death in Northeast, D.C. police say

An man was shot in the head and killed Thursday afternoon inside a Northeast Washington residence , according to D.C. police.

Police responded to the 5100 block of 7th St. NE a few minutes after 1 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities released few details and homicide detectives were still at the scene mid-afternoon. Police did not release information about potential suspects.

The area is in the Queens Chapel neighborhood west of Fort Totten, off South Dakota Avenue and Galloway Street. The street is lined with red-bricked duplexes.
